He has collected over 2000 old wooden\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eKashigata\u003c\/i\u003e molds, used to make a traditional type of sugar confectionary that you don't see often now. Nagata presses handmade paper into them to achieve the tactile, 3D pattern on the paper, as you can see in some of the images. The faint hue comes from from the sugar components soaked into the molds.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eWhen I last visited Japan I bought a paper postcard by Tetsuya Nagata pressed into the shape of a shrimp. I had intended to gift it but couldn’t part with it.
