Beaches and wild beauty in Northumberland
We came for the famously stunning beaches, and discovered empty landscapes of wild perfection and lovely local people.
Northumberland delivered spades of delicious memories for parents of little ones (and our black Labrador, Boo), like impromptu wild swimming in a chilly stream, pink happy cheeks after hours spent clambering over rock pools in the shadow of a castle ruin, flying kites and body boarding on an empty white sand beach, listening for the hoot of a barn owl at dusk, hunting down locally smoked fish, and skimming stones on Lindisfarne’s shallows.
We camped in Warkworth but the itinerary will work well from any accommodation in the area.
