In Puglia we managed to achieve my perfect balance of local exploration, utter relaxation and fun for the kids. We stayed at the rather lavish Borgo Egnazia which is so beautiful it was hard to tear ourselves away from the hotel. But each day we spent a few hours exploring Puglia’s lesser-known spots, wild beaches, hilltop towns and local cafés. This was a real high-low holiday and the itinerary would work just as well from any accommodation in the same area. I hope you fall in love with Puglia as much we did.

The Essentials

Trip length: 4 days

Getting there: The nearest airports are Bari or Brindisi.

Getting around: We rented a car so we could explore some hidden gems and have some flexibility. But Borgo can sort transfers, and you could use taxis to explore Puglia.

Stay: We stayed at Borgo Egnazia.

When to go: Puglia is best in the shoulder seasons, April-June or September-October, when the temperatures are cooler and it's less busy. It would be a good choice for May or October half term.

Best for: 0-12 years.

HOW WE DID IT

This Trip Kit would work from any accommodation with access to a pool. Kitty stayed at Borgo Egnazia which is a 5* property with 'Casette' (family suites) starting at £1000 per night.

Kitty rented a car for the flexibility of travelling around with kids, and also because a taxi from the hotel to the towns can be in the region of £50.

The private tennis lesson was £45 per person. Other than eating out and the tennis lesson, most days were fllled free-of-charge.
